It is a marble cake with zebra pattern. made with vanilla flavoured and chocolate flavoured batter for the white and brown colour in the zebra pattern.
I have used hand blender in this recipe. You can either use it for even use a normal mixer blender or whisker but make sure it is lump free and smooth. Instead of vanilla-chocolate flavour you can even use vanilla-strawberry , pineapple-chocolate and any other combinations of your choice can be tried out.

Ingredients
- 1 cup maida/alll purpose flour
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 100 gms butter
- 1/2 cup sugar +1 tbsp for chocolate batter
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2-3/4 cup milk
- 1.5 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
Instructions
- firstly, to prepare the cake pan, Apply butter all over the pan and sprinkle a tsp of flour into it. roll the pan to spread it all over. tap out the extra flour from the pan if any.
- Prepare the cake flour. take a mixing bowl and sieve the flour into it. add salt and baking powder. Mix well and keep it aside.
- Preparing the wet ingredients: put butter and sugar into another mixing bowl. Mix it with the help of whisker or blender
- break eggs into it in intervals and mix it until fluffy and it rises up.
- Add vanilla essence into the mixture. Mix again
- add half of the flour prepared to the wet mixture. fold in until lump free and add milk little at a time
- after adding milk and mixing it with flour , add the remaining flour. Mix again until it forms a smooth batter
- divide the batter into two. To one portion of the batter, add the cocoa powder, sugar and milk. Mix again until smooth and lumps free
- pour a ladle/spoon of the white batter into the centre of the cake pan.Followed by the chocolate batter into the centre of the white batter. Follow the same process until the batter is filled up in the cake pan.
- Tap it slightly to release any air bubbles in the pan
- preheat the oven to 180 deg Celsius. Bake the cake at 180 deg c for 35-40 minutes. take out and let it cool on a wire rack. make slices once its cool. zebra cake is ready!

Prepare the pan:
- firstly, prepare the cake pan. Apply butter all over the pan
- Put a tsp of flour into it
- roll the pan to spread it all over
- tap out the extra flour from the pan if any. cake pan is ready
Prepare the cake flour
- take a mixing bowl and sieve the flour into it
- add salt a pinch
- and goes the baking powder.
- Mix well and our cake flour is ready. keep it aside.
Preparing the wet ingredients:
- put 100 gms butter into another mixing bowl. unsalted butter.
- Add sugar to the butter
- Mix it with the help of whisker or blender
- the butter and sugar has to combine and become smooth and fluffy, then break an egg into it
- Mix it again.
- Break another egg into it. Egg has to added one at time else it may curdle the mixture and spoil teh texture. so add one at a time and mix thoroughly and immediately.
- Mix it again until fluffy and it rises up.
- The texture has to look like this
- Add vanilla essence into the mixture.
- Mix again
Folding in the cake flour into the prepared butter mix:
add half of the flour prepared to the wet mixture.
fold in until lump free and add milk little at a time
after adding milk and mixing it with flour , add the remaining flour
Mix again until it forms a smooth batter

- divide the batter into two.
- To one portion of the batter, add the cocoa powder, sugar and milk.
- Mix again until smooth and lumps free
Layering the batter into the pan:
- pour a ladle/spoon of the white batter into the centre of the cake pan.
- Followed by the chocolate batter into the centre of the white batter.
- Follow the same process until the batter is filled up in the cake pan. watch the video to understand it better.
- Tap it slightly to release any air bubbles in the pan
Baking the cake
- preheat the oven to 180 deg Celsius
- Bake the cake at 180 deg c for 35-40 minutes. I baked it for 40 min and felt that it was slightly moist inside which i loved and wanted it. If you want more dryness. bake it even longer.
- take out and let it cool on a wire rack
- make slices once its cool
- zebra cake is ready!
