Simple, tasty and quick fix to satisfy your sweet cravings. We either make this version of sweet idiyappam at home or plainly mix sugar and coconut to the cooked sevai.
A handful of sweet sevai is always served before having the spicy version at my home. Though am not that a sweet tooth, I love this dish a lot.

Sweet Idiyappam Recipe with jaggery and coconut
Ingredients
- 1/8 cup jaggery
- 2-3 tbsp water
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- 2 cups cooked sevai
Instructions
- Cook the sevai/idiyappam beforehand and keep it ready.
- Melt the jaggery with few drops of water.
- Add cardamom powder, mix well and let it boil until thick.
- Further, add grated coconut and mix well. Put off the flame.
- Lastly, add the cooked sevai and mix well.
- serve fresh !

Vella idiyappam recipe
1.To make the sweet sevai recipe, firstly, Melt the jaggery with little water.
2. Add powdered cardamom and mix thoroughly to ensure there are no lumps. Let it heat up to become thick and bubbling.
3. Put off the stove at this point and add grated coconut. Mix well.
4. Cooked and cooled sevai/idiyappam goes in next. Mix well and break the longer strands.
5. Serve the idiyappam fresh!
