Methi sambar recipe | Vendhaya keerai sambar – an everyday recipe of sambar with methi/fenugreek leaves and drumstick. this version of sambar is made with sambar powder and is a kind of instant sambar recipe which we call it as podi sambar. this is good for both rice and dosa/idli.

heat oil and add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds. let it splutter and add chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, drumstick and methi leaves.
fry until it wilts/shrinks. add water, salt, turmeric powder, tamarind water.
mix well, close and cook until vegetable is done. open and add cooked dal and sambar powder.
mix well and add asafoetida a pinch. mix well and boil for 5-10 minutes. add ghee and mix once.
serve hot with rice

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1 large onion chopped
- 1/2 no tomato chopped
- 2 no drumstick chopped
- 1/2 cup methi leaves
- salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 2-3 tbsp tamarind water
- 1.5 cups cooked tur dal
- 2 tsp sambar powder
- a pinch asafoetida
- 1 tbsp ghee
