Masoor dal curry or the simple dal fry recipe is very common Indian dish both in south india (for rice) and in north india (for rotis). For both roti and rice, this curry holds good!

Simple bhi, tasty bhi, healthy bhi !

I love to cook with masoor dal only for its absolute aroma. Default option for rotis always is my favourite masoor dal curryMasoor dal curry

Ingredients

  • 1 cup masoor dal
  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • 1 Green chilly chopped
  • 1 Red chilli chopped
  • 1 large Tomato chopped
  • 4 cloves Garlicchopped
  • 1 spring Curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp Corriander leaves chopped
  • 1 tsp Dry methi leaves
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • 1 tbsp Fresh unsalted butter
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Jeera powder

Instructions

  • First cook dal to 3 whistles. Add turmeric and little oil when cooking dal.
  • Meanwhile, heat oil, fresh butter in kadai, splutter mustard seeds, sauté onion,tomato,green chilli, red chilli, curry leaves, garlic.once it cooks well, add jeera powder, salt and cooked dhal..
  • Stir it until the tempering mixes well. Add enough water to this as the cooked dal drinks more water!
  • Now adjust salt, add ghee, dry methi leaves and corriander leaves, mix well and serve hot with rotis!:-)
