Masala peanuts recipe | Spicy peanuts snacks recipe – simple, easy to make and delicious snacks recipe that can be prepared within minutes. We call this masal kadalai (masala kadalai) which is little garlic flavored and spicier than that we get in packets and the north Indian version.

The peanuts should be raw and with skin. Do not use roasted peanuts. fry the peanuts in medium flame. the batter has to be sticky and thick so that it coats well on the peanuts. if it is runny, then the fries wont be crisp. adding curry leaves at the last is optional but gives a exclusive flavor to the snack.

I also prefer to sprinkle some chaat masala on top of the final fried peanuts before storing. cool it down completely before storing else it would turn soggy. Only when the peanuts inside is also completely cool, the entire piece would be crispy. We would taste it immediately and find the crust crisp but peanuts uncooked. But when completely cool, it will be perfect just like the cookies.

How to make spicy masala groundnut snacks at home with step by step pics

In a mixing bowl, take raw peanuts (Not roasted) along with gram flour, rice flour.

adding salt, chilli powder preferably kashmiri chilli powder, asafoetida.

Turmeric powder, garam masala and crushed garlic.

Mix everything together. squeeze half a lemon’s juice. sprinkle water little at a time and mix.

Mix until it is thick but well coated.

Heat oil and pinch drop the peanuts into hot oil. do not turn sides immediately, after few seconds keep turning sides until it is roasted and crisp.

Take it out and in the same oil, fry curry leaves and top it up with curry leaves.

This peanut masala can be stored for a week.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw peanuts
  • 1/2 cup gram flour
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
  • 1/8 tsp asafoetida
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/8 tsp garam masala
  • 3 cloves garlic crushed
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • oil for frying

Instructions

  • Mix peanuts with all the ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  • add lemon juice and sprinkle water little at a time to make a thick batter.
  • heat oil and deep fry the peanuts. pinch drop the peanuts into hot oil.
  • turn sides and fry until light and oil sizzle reduces.
  • Take out and add some fried curry leaves on top.
