Ingredients
White coconut chutney
- 1 cup grated coconut
- 2 nos green chilli
- 2 tbsp fried gram
- salt to taste
red coconut chutney
- 1 cup grated coconut
- 4 nos small onions
- 1/2 inch ginger
- 2 nos red chilli
- salt to taste
green coconut chutney
- 1 cup grated coconut
- 1 handful mint leaves
- 1 no green chilli
- 1 inch ginger
- salt to taste
tempering (measure given for one chutney)
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp urad dal
- 1 spring curry leaves
Instructions
- take all the ingredients for the chutney in a blender and blend it to a coarse paste adding little water.
- transfer to a bowl.
- heat coconut oil and crackle mustard seeds and add urad dal and curry leaves. let it get crisp.
- add the tempering to the chutney. mix well and serve fresh.

South Indian coconut chutney recipe
white coconut chutney / hotel coconut chutney
1.using freshly grated coconut is recommended for this recipe for best results. take the freshly grated coconut, fried gram and green chilli in a blender. add salt and grind it.
2. add water little by little while grinding to make it a semi coarse paste /chutney consistency. transfer to a bowl.
3. heat coconut oil in a tadka (thalippu karandi), crackle mustard seeds and urad dal split
4. add fresh curry leaves and fry till crisp.
5. add the seasoning to the chutney and mix well before serving.
red coconut chutney | red chilli coconut chutney
1.get all the ingredients for the coconut chutney ready. we need coconut, small onions, ginger, red chilli as per taste and salt. take everything in a blender. you can also add fried gram in this chutney.
2. add water after a pulse and make it a coarse paste. transfer to a bowl.
3. heat coconut oil in a tadka (thalippu karandi), crackle mustard seeds and urad dal split
4. add fresh curry leaves and fry till crisp.
5. add the seasoning to the chutney and mix well before serving.
green coconut chutney recipe | mint coconut chutney recipe
1.get all the ingredients ready for the green coconut chutney. we would need coconut grated, mint leaves, green chilli, ginger and salt in a blender.
2. grind to a semi fine paste and take it in a bowl. If you want a dark green colour, add more mint leaves/coriander leaves. you will get the dark green colour.
