Vazhakkai Cherupayar curry
Vazhakkai Cherupayar curry is made with raw banana and green gram. Cooked with coconut oil and topped with some freshly grated coconut gives out an authentic malabar taste.
My mom makes this curry very often and when i make this at home, I use sprouted green gram, and the taste is so good when sprouts are added. Whenever we cook raw banana, we use to discard the water used for boiling, I know some of the nutrients may get lost but doing this will avoid gastric problem caused by raw banana.

Pressure cook green gram dal with salt and keep it ready.
Heat oil, Splutter mustard seeds. Drop in split urad dal. Let it get slightly brown.
Add chopped shallots and curry leaves. fry till it gets brown.
Put in chopped raw banana, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well and Add little water.
Close and cook until it is done.
Now add the cooked green gram dal
Put off and sprinkle in grated coconut. Mix well and serve!

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup green gram
- 1 long raw bananas
- 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp urad dal
- 1/8 cup shallots
- 1 spring curry leaves
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- salt to taste
- 3 tbsp grated coconut
Instructions
