Today, I’m excited to share my take on a favorite dish – Green Chilli Mushroom, inspired by the flavors of Andhra-style Green Chilli Chicken that I adore from Meghna Biryani. This vegetarian version is a delightful twist that never fails to satisfy my cravings. Paired with it is the crispy and vibrant Green Poori, made with the goodness of palak leaves, creating a perfect duo that’s both visually appealing and incredibly tasty.

Green Poori:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup wheat flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Handful of palak leaves
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. In a blender, grind a handful of palak leaves with water to a fine paste. Strain the paste.
  2. In a bowl, take 1/2 cup wheat flour, add salt, and mix.
  3. Combine the palak paste with the wheat flour to make a soft dough. Adjust the flour if needed.
  4. Set the dough aside until ready for use.

Green Chilli Mushroom Curry:

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp ghee
  • 7-8 green chillies (slit)
  • 1/2 onion (sliced)
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 200 gms mushroom (sliced)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/8 tsp soya sauce
  • 1/2 tsp cornflour (mixed with water to make a slurry)
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

Instructions:

  1. In a cooker, heat 2 tsp ghee and fry slit green chillies. Add sliced onions and cook until soft.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw smell disappears. Toss in the sliced mushrooms and fry for a minute.
  3. Mix in 1 tsp salt, add 1 cup water, and stir well. Pressure cook for 2-3 whistles.
  4. Once cooked, let it boil. Add soya sauce and the cornflour slurry to make the curry thick and saucy.
  5. Squeeze in the juice of half a lemon, mix well, and turn off the heat.

Assembling the Dish:

  1. Roll out thin, large discs of the prepared dough.
  2. Using a lid, cut small discs from the rolled dough.
  3. Deep fry the pieces in hot oil until both sides are golden brown.
  4. Serve it hot with green mushroom curry
